Why Disability Advocacy has such a Promising Future!

In Social Security's 8/99 release of the "Standards for non-attorney representatives", SSA for the first time acknowledged the growing importance of the Disability Advocate.  It appears from the report that non-attorney representation is growing so fast that SSA was compelled to produce more detailed standards.  Social Security is also planning to This simple acknowledgement foretells an exciting future for this field!

Within our online brochure, we have discussed a number of reasons why the disability representational concept is so powerful.  Those reasons include, but are not limited to, the uniqueness of this field; historically consistent growth in the number of persons applying for disability benefits and the fact that like all good business concepts, disability advocacy meets a basic customer need!

However, there is a fundamental aspect to this business that even an eagle-eyed entrepreneur might well overlook.  That fundamental aspect lies in the answer to a single question.  Has anything like this ever been done before?  If the answer is yes, the chances that a similar business concept will also succeed greatly increase!  Several decades ago, two brothers had a unique vision.  They saw extreme financial promise in an obscure government process called tax preparation.  In their day, this process was performed almost exclusively by tax attorneys and CPAs.

The greatest obstacle to H&R Block's success was how to simplify a complex government process and teach it to ordinary people.  If ordinary people could perform tax preparation, quality and efficiency would increase.  This would in turn attract more customers to the service increasing the need for more practitioners.  The result of all this was a significant expansion of the field.  Needless to say, H&R Block solved the training dilemma and  became the most commonly used tax preparation service in America.

Disability Advocacy is the tax preparation business analogy for the new millennium.  It has the same positive characteristics that have made the tax preparation business so successful over the last thirty years.  We envision a time when a disabled person will use a disability advocate in much the same way as we now use tax professionals.  This will only occur when Disability Advocacy is made available in all communities, large and small, making it convenient for the ordinary applicant.  Making this unique field available to the masses is the bottom line reason for our exclusive training system!
