Of all the
visitors to our web site, none understand the need for disability
advocates more than those who have gone through the process. Those
of you who have applied may recall long lines, confusing letters,
demand for evidence in what may have seemed to be a never ending
process. It's these common experiences that have made disability
advocacy increasingly popular among those receiving Social Security
disability benefits.
If you're
currently receiving Social Security disability benefits, you may be
eligible to have your advocacy training paid for by your State's
vocational rehabilitation service. Disability Associates has worked
extensively with a number of State agencies to provide training to
those who wish to return to gainful self-employment. To determine
if you qualify for a training stipend, do the following:
1)
Contact your local State vocational rehabilitation office. Tell
them that you're interested in training as a disability advocate.
2) Print our Intro to Disability
Advocacy page from this web site and give this information to your
Rehabilitation counselor.
3) Ask to be assessed by Voc Rehab
to determine if you're mentally and physically capability of
performing this work.
4) Instruct your Rehab counselor
to contact us at 303-766-1111 or
info@daincpm.net. We'll provide the rehab office with the
information they need to assess your ability to perform this
service. If you're eligible for assistance, we'll also make all
purchasing arrangements on your behalf. If you have any further
questions, contact us at the e-mail address above.
