Bogus Consumer Protection Warning!
Disability Associates References and Reputation

Disability Associates Logo

Disability Associates stands behind all of our products and service and we guarantee satisfaction or your money back.  This segment provides all the information you'll need to research, evaluate and avoid common Internet rumors, phony consumer protection warnings, scams and outright misrepresentations.

Our Complaint History

In the past sixteen years, Disability Associates has logged one legitimate complaint and it was resolved in our favor.  We're also a multiple BBB Gold Star recipient.  If you find a complaint posted anywhere on the Internet about our company, it's probably bogus!  We discuss several of these fakes in this security segment.  Click here Check us out before you buy!

Bogus Consumer Protection Warning!

In 2007, we identified an individual on eBay selling a circa 1995 version of our training program.  This seller who has never been a customer of our firm (claims his sister purchased the program), told the eBay audience that our course was fantastic.  He stated that "the Disability Associates program was filled with extremely valuable marketing and operational materials."  When he was asked not to sell the materials, his description of our course dramatically changed.

The seller failed to inform eBay buyers that the materials were extremely outdated.  Practicing this service using severely outdated information can lead to errors in representation that could result in disciplinary action by Social Security.  With our company's name on these obsolete materials, we (not the eBay seller) would be held responsible by SSA if a problem arose.  Therefore, we had no choice but to ask eBay to remove the listing.  EBay agreed and the listing was removed!  Incidentally, the 1995 version of our course was sold with an expressed No Resale restriction that was also arrogantly ignored by this ebay seller!

When the listing was removed, the seller became angry and started pretending to be the victim.  This seller who happens to be an attorney, retaliated against our firm by creating a bogus consumer protection site filled with false and unsubstantiated allegations.  He stated that he would only remove the site if we paid him.  See paragraph Extorsion Scam below.  The description of our training course went from "filled with valuable information" on eBay to, the course information is useless and can be extracted free online.  Really!  This eBay seller has only seen the 1995 version of our course and has never been in a position to provide an objective opinion.

Notice!

Disability Associates will not be held responsible for the
contents of any advocate training program not directly
purchased from our firm.

The field of Disability Representation is extremely dynamic.  It's important that the training you receive be current and compliant with today’s Social Security regulations.

Website Extortion Scam

The above ebay seller tried to extort funds from our firm by offering to remove the offending website if we paid him a cash settlement.  When we refused to pay, he simply added more unsubstantiated garbage to the website.  If this individual had any professional ethics at all, he would never have attempted to sell outdated materials to unsuspecting eBay victims in the first place.  He has been promoting this phony website for the past five years.  In that time, we have not received a single complaint on any of the issues this person has alleged about our firm.  All of the information provided on this so called consumer protection page are either complete fabrications or are intentional distortions of the truth.  We encourage you to check out our company's true reputation before making your buying decision.

Donation and Loan Schemes

This same ebay seller mentioned above also tried to pull a donation and material loan scam on us!  In a material loan scam, the scammer offers the public a free copy of someone else's material.  They usually provide information that is either altered or extremely outdated.  He also request copies of our materials from disatisfied customers which he could then use to give credibility to his claims about our company.  To our knowledge, this ebay seller has never located a disatisfied customer except one named Allen.  We have no record of a customer named Allen. This name was extracted from an online consumer website that itself is not credible.  See our comments on Self-Proclaimed online Consumer Protection Agencies below.   Don't guess the quality of our materials!  Get a first-hand evaluation of our course at no charge by simply taking our FREE 14-Day Trial.

Self-Proclaimed Consumer Protection Agencies

Don't be fooled by phony complaints posted on self-proclaimed customer protection websites.  These unregulated businesses allow anyone, customer or not, to post unsubstantiated complaints without any type of verification.  For instance, a ridiculous complaint was posted about our company from a person named Allen who has never taken our course.  This phony complaint has been sitting on this so-called protection agency website for years.  The posting agency ignored us when we informed them that the person complaining has never been a customer.

A second phony complaint was posted in 2008 claiming that we refused a refund during a trial period.  In our twenty-five year service history, we have never refused a refund to a person during the trial period and we never will.  If we had been guilty of this, why didn't the customer report it to a real protection agency like the Better Business Bureau (BBB).  Our membership would have given this person access to an impartial and public arbitration.  The reason is simple, it never happened!

These phony online protection agencies do not provide proper business notification, investigation, documentation, verification, legal arbitration or a binding settlement process.  In a word, these fly-by-night Internet agencies are worthless as a true reference source.  If you'd like an unbiased assessment of our years of outstanding service, use a legitimate consumer reporting agency like the BBB.

Anonymous Complaints

The latest Internet get-even tactic is the anonymous complaint.  Individuals and/or competitors will post unsubstantiated comments without revealing the true identity or motive behind their statements.  When reviewing these comments, note the following:  Does the complainer try to enlist others to take part in his scheme?  Does the person place the blame on others while rationalizing his own unethical behavior?  Was there a prior conflict that is the true motivation behind the disparaging comments?  Is the person an actual customer of the company?  These questions speak directly to a person's motive, character and credibility.  Before accepting such comments, contact the company being criticized for clarification.

Public Domain Training Materials

If you're been told that our materials are generic or can be acquired free from the Social Security Administration, you're being willfully misled.  Please note that our materials contain important operational procedures that are not available from any other source.  We offer an exclusive curriculum that is both unique and  proprietary.

Little or No Field Experience

Training programs for Disability Advocates are popping up all over the Internet.  Many are created by folks with appropriate-sounding backgrounds, with no real experience representing disability claims.  Simply having worked for the Social Security Administration does not qualify a person to either practice or teach disability advocacy.  Field experience is the key to success!  Only after you have represented thousands of cases, can you consider yourself an expert.  We've represented over 15,000 cases - more than all other trainers combined.  Don't place the success of your service in the hands of a novice.  No matter how you look at it, there is absolutely no substitute for our decades of business and training experience.

Recommendations from Associations

Claims of support and/or recommendations from nursing, paralegal, social work and other professional organizations should be viewed with skepticism.  We contacted the head of several of these associations.  We did this not to disprove the claims of others, but to see if they would be willing to recommend our course.  We were told that these professional organizations do not recommend any course produced or sold by non-affiliated businesses, even if the company is a non-profit.  We were also told that if a course is offered from their association website, it's as a result of paid advertising and is not considered a recommendation.

Trade Schools/Community Colleges

Classroom instruction is perhaps the worse method of acquiring training.  Trade schools, including non-profit community colleges, offer a number of subjects and do not specialize in the business of disability representation.  These training sources usually provide no support or continuing education and have little or no incentive to update their materials.  The curricula from these training sources may be outdated before you complete the course!

Protected Territories

Offering Advocacy services with protected territories is another misleading sales gimmick used by scammers on the Internet.  The nature of Disability Advocacy makes it impossible to offer or maintain protected territories.  In fact, protected territories are completely unnecessary and offer no advantage to an Advocate.  If the training source you're considering offers protected territories as a benefit of its service, look for another training source!

Checking a Companies' Reputation

Given the nature of the Internet, it's important that you use objective and unbiased sources when checking out a company's reputation.  We provide both active student and professional references covering a period of more than two decades.

Professional references like the Better Business Bureau are not about trusting a company or its products.  It's about having a reputable third-party arbitrator available to protect your interest in case the buyer - seller relationship goes wrong.  Be sure to check out a company's membership status and complaint history with that company's local BBB or the State Attorney General's office.

Disability Associates, Inc. is a BBB Accredited Business. Click for the BBB Business Review of this Training Programs in Aurora CO

The BBB will specifically state that a company is a member in its company report.  If a company is not a member of the BBB, you have little chance of recovering your money without costly legal action.  The BBB is your independent voice in a dispute, and it's a great source for unbiased historical information about a company.

A company's complaint history with the BBB directly reflects that company's quality of service over the long term.  You should also request a company's BBB membership status, years of membership and arbitration history.
