Disability Advocate Course Introduction

Congratulations on an outstanding purchase and welcome to the most comprehensive Disability Advocate Business and training program ever devised.  This combination DA Pro software and online training program contains all of the essential information you will need to start and operate a fully independent and profitable disability advocacy service.  The information provided within this program is specific to the Social Security disability program and should not be used with other disability systems such as Workmen's Compensation or Veteran disability services.

This course is designed to teach you the fundamentals of Social Security disability case representation using a unique approach conceived, developed and we refined by Disability Associates over the past two decades.  Our approach to this service has proven to be the most efficient and effective method of representing a Social Security disability claim regardless of your location.  Our teaching methods are  somewhat unusual but extremely effective at conveying this complex service in the shortest period of time.

Do Not Jump Ahead

Most of our students want to learn this process as quickly as possible so that they can begin excepting cases.  There is a temptation for some students to ignore our instructions and jump ahead within the course.  For best result, stay on schedule and follow all instructions to the letter.  This program is very comprehensive and it's easy to become lost or confused.  You can avoid confusion and get the most out of this course by simply following the course schedule provided below.

Conceptual Service Suggestion:

As you begin structuring your company, it's important to keep in mind that a business is like a newborn child.  Like a newborn, a company is most vulnerable at birth and must be carefully nurtured in order to assure its survival.  In order to experience positive growth, you must supply the company with proper intellectual and financial nourishment.  This cannot be achieved by simply throwing money at a business concept.  Throughout this course, you'll be shown how to develop your representational service so that it reflects your personality and values.

Also keep in mind that no two businesses are alike, even if those businesses are offering the exact same products and services.  We strongly suggest that you make every effort to personalize your company so that it reflects your goals, values and personality.

Be willing to make mistakes!  Mistakes are inescapable in business and can act as your best source of operational feedback.  Operational feedback comes from the people you represent.  If a customer makes a suggestion or describes a need that you are not prepared to service, contact us for further instructions.  We're here to help you in any way we can.  Although operational feedback can be  painful at times, it will enable you to create a more successful company in the long run.

We also suggest that you use personal creativity in place of money as your primary means of solving problems within your company.  Money alone will never create a successful company. Creating a business that will survive can be greatly enhanced if you start by planning for survival right from the start.  If you take your time, plan your steps and learn from your mistakes, you will inevitably succeed as a Social Security disability advocate.

In a Hurry?

If you'd like to complete the basic portion of your course in the shortest possible time, then do the following:  Put your DA Pro software aside and begin training with the online Study Guide lesson one.  Follow each lesson in order until you have completed all eight lessons.  Repeat this approach in the Business guide and Marketing Manual.  Make sure that you report each completed lesson.  The report box is located at the end of each lesson within the Study and Business Guides.  Be sure to finish this intro before starting.

General information about starting a business is only briefly covered in the Professional Basic program.  If you do not have previous business experience, we suggest that you invest in a generic business start-up text.  There are many of these Start-up text available.  We suggest "The Small Business Start-up Kit" published by Nolo at www.nolo.com or the "Business Start-up for Dummies" series.  Learning basic business principles can help you to avoid many common pitfalls during the development phase of your new company.

Experienced Advocates:  Even the most experienced advocates have been able to extract valuable procedural knowledge from this course.  It's our desire to provide the experienced advocate with as much useable information as possible.  Even if you have prior experience in this field, it's still a good idea to follow our basic approach to completing this training program.

Loading Software:

Our software is designed with internal security features that enables us to monitor its use.  For this reason, loading the software requires special instructions.  Here are the basic steps for loading our custom software:

To load:

1. All software loading begins with a link to the specific software you wish to load.

If you have not done so already, create a new folder on your desktop.  This will be used to hold the executable copy of the software after the extraction process.  You can name the folder anything you like.  Keep the new storage folder on your desktop.

2.  If you're using Vista or Windows 7 user, turn off the UAC in the control panel.  If XP, go to next step.

3.  Click on the link to the software and follow the onscreen instructions.

4.  Save the locked executable file of the software to your desktop.

5.  Double click on the Executable file on your desktop to begin the extraction process.  As you proceed, a gray box will appear asking for your license code.  This is the code you wrote down when transferring our software to your computer.  Follow the onscreen loading instructions.  The software will extract and a new icon for the software will appear on your desktop.

6.  You'll now see both your executable file and the program icon on your desktop.  Move the executable file to the storage folder.  Use the desktop icon only to open the software.  Do not use the file inside the new storage folder again unless you need to reload.  Always open software using the desktop icon.

7.  The first time you attempt to access your new program, the system may ask for your Alpha runtime code.  The Runtime code can be found in your member letter.

If you have problems loading, stop and contact our office at 303-766-1111 or use the student support e-mail.

If you have problems loading your software, stop and call
303-766-111 for assistance.

Program Changes and Updates:

Disability advocacy is an ever evolving field.  Periodically, there are rule changes that occur within Social Security that can affect the operational practices used in this service.  When this occurs, you'll be notified via an update of the materials online.  Because it's far faster and easier to update materials online, you can usually expect the DA Pro software to run a bit behind the online materials.

Course Training Schedule

All purchasers will receive access to online materials on an interval bases.  Access is determined by your progression through the training segments as outlined in our training schedule.  For example, you'll receive your certificate of completion and access to the Executive website after you have completed the 16 basic lessons within the Study and Business Guides.    Click here to access the training schedule.  Revised 1/20/10

General Course Instructions:

This advocate training program provides a significant amount of information located in many different segments.  We also add new materials to the course of a regular basis.  As a result of this material growth, it's not difficult to become disoriented within the program.  For this reason, we suggest that you progress through your training by following the course schedule above.

Software Licenses

Our custom software is designed as a single user product.  You may load this software to one non-network computer and generate a single license.  If product sharing is discovered, your software license and access to all training materials will be terminated without consideration of refund.  If you have any problems loading a program, stop - and contact us immediately at stussa@daincpm.net

Open the DA Pro software and begin with lesson one of the "Study Guide".  Alternatively, you can begin by going directly to the online full version Study Guide in the Student web.  If you're in a hurry to learn these materials, go directly to the online text and begin reading.

Within each DA Pro lesson, you'll find a lesson objective button.  Click this button and listen to the brief lesson objective. You'll also notice a reading subjects menu that describes each major subject covered in the lesson.  In the middle of the page, you'll notice the reading segment itself.  Read this segment carefully.  You can expand this area for easier reading by clicking on the screen and then the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner of the reading area.  You cannot print the materials from the DA Pro.  However, you can easily print the lessons from the online text version.

Within the DA Pro, you'll also find a "Charts" button.  These charts are used as summary models that describes the process discussed within the lesson.  You'll also find a "Tips" button.  Tips are used to clarify or simplify a given issue discussed within the lesson.  The DA Pro Trainer also contains an interactive Quiz segment that allows you to immediately test your understanding of the subject matter covered within a given lesson.  This is a great way to reinforce your understanding of a given subject.  If you plan to take Social Security's certification examination, we strongly suggest that you purchase our Examination Primer.  The Primer contains an unlimited number of full exams and quizzes that go far beyond those offered in the DA Pro.

Once you have completed a lesson in the DA Pro Trainer software, you should review the exact same lesson online.  The online lessons are more detailed and will further increase your understanding of the covered subject matter.  At the end of each lesson, you'll find an input box.  Enter your name, member status and an active e-mail address.  This step is required in order to earn your training certificate.
