| Although our Student web site contains a large amount of
important information about Social Security disability, there is no way for us to cover all potential issues
within the disability process. To get information on
unfamiliar issues, you should learn how to use Social Security
Q&A search tool. This tool can provide you with quick
answers to many of the common issues within the disability
process.
Major Subjects:
To use the Social Security search tool, go to the
www.ssa.gov web site and click
inside the search box. The box itself contains a list of
major subjects like Hearings and Appeals. Click on the
major subject category and click go. Begin your research.
For Secondary Subjects:
Type in the word disability and
click go.
In the search text box, enter a general term or phrase for
the subject you are interested in. Example: Social
Security disability policy. Then click the search
button. If there is information on the subject requested,
a list of questions will appear. On the right side of the
Social Security answer screen, you may see an up/down arrow.
Click on these arrows to toggle through various
Social Security
questions until you find the information you need. The system is not
perfect, but it can be a helpful starting point when researching
an issue. |
