Residual Functional Capacity

Physical Residual Functional Capacity
The PRFC or Physical Residual Functional Capacity form is used by Social
Security to
determine the type and severity of functional limitations caused by the claimant's mental
impairment. In your capacity as a disability advocate, you will never
actually fill-out an RFC form. You refer to this form as a
means of determining what psychological limitations are most
relevant to Social Security.
The PRFC form is important because the physical limitations listed on this form are those
considered by Social Security to have the greatest influence on a claimant's ability to perform work.
If Social Security considers the signs and symptoms listed on this form to be
the most relevant, then so must the
advocate if he/she expects to win the case. An advocate should use the PRFC form
as a guide to those physical limitations most likely to result in an
allowance determine. The links below connect to the six most
important pages of the Physical RFC form.
